The Camp Jubilee Continues On.....

Well, the girls and I decided not to leave the campsite yet because we were having so much fun, so I decided to extend our little excursion. More people have enjoyed to join us too...so I had it to do.

So tonight I figured that we could sit and watch the stars....

and be by the campfire......

Howdy farmgirls!

It is time to go on our Jubilee camp out trip. I am so thrilled there is a great number of us....it is going to be a ball. I am looking forward to seeing all of your campsites in our little roundup as well as hearing all of the neat stories and having our own sing-along. Of course, we cannot forget eating yummy farmgirl treats while sitting at the campfire by the light of the moon!

Farmgirl Campout Jubilee

I was inspired after hearing all of the BUZZ about all of the vinatage trailers on the Farmgirl Connection and then seeing Mary Janes's new Outpost book....a real delilght to the eyes! I also have been enjoying recently, the many blog parties/gatherings where people share great stories and pictures as if they were right there. So what is an inspired Farmgirl to do???? I decided to organize an online campout where we would get together and share pictures of our vintage trailers that we own or ones that we would like to own and just dream about them.

I just had to share....Miz Frannie is gifting me this lovely, little piece of stitchery. In honor of me and my "honey man". I think it is sooooo sweet...I love stitchery stuff. Looking forward to placing it on my small wrought iron easel in our bedroom. Thanks a bunch :-)

I will be away visiting family and will also be clogging in/after some parades...these "old" shoes will really be worn out ( and my feet too)......
Trying to dodge the raindrops today along with enjoying watermelon and other yummy goodies. And of course watching the beautiful lights in the sky - fireworks.

OK, so I I have fell off the blog a thon bandwaggon for a bit....lots of things keeping me from being able to be on the computer to post....but I am back on it now :)

I have to wait to post pics later on this week when I am at my home PC...all of my photos are on there.

I LOVE creating crafty goodness with my hands. I love to make things with paper and I enjoy playing with fabrics and paints...I will even slip some dye colors in too (depending on what I am working with). I also love using vintagey type photos for my work too. I have been playing with wool felt pieces too.

I also love creating artwork for an important cause. I recently added my creative 2 cents in a wonderful collaborative charity project - the Pink Project. Go and check this out it is absolutely bee-utiful what all of the contributors did and Monica (the organizer gal), who sewed all of the squares together and also created the doll body...lots of talent here. I was great being a small, yet important part of the overall process :-)

The project that I will be highlighting here is a little candle mat that I made with wool felt applique.

What does being a Farm Girl mean to you?

I have lived in the country while growing up. My paternal grandfather was a cow farmer and loved his tractor, while my paternal grandmother did her sewing and canning. She was also at one time a 4-H leader and taught sewing to my aunts and all of the girls in their group. I have lots of fond memories of my sister and I going up the hill to their house and picking apples and raspberries and helping my dad in his auto shed that was up there too. People sometimes look at me funny when I refer to daffodils as jonquils...these golden beauties were everywhere along our road.

We were taught the country way of life and the important values of the heart, and tho I live in the city now, I carry these thoughts and ways of living with me (tho at times I do get caught in the cycle of convenience). I still dream of the day of owning a small piece of farmland with my husband and maybe owning a bed and breakfast/guest house.

To me, something as simple as an old berry basket or Mason jars shouts "farmgirl and proud of it"...reminds me of those joyful berry picking days and the simplicity of the country way of life.

I just LOVE aprons; the new and the old! I love all of the colors and patterns of them...so kitchy, so timeless and so fun. Their uses are just endless and they have been used throughout our past as well as our present. They also have precious memories behind them, kinda like a scrapbook that ties on along the waistline.

My apron pockets hold whatever I may be doing that day...mostly anything that has to do with the small materials that I use for my artwork....primarily paper scraps and little embellishments. On a more soulful note, my apron pockets tend to be empty so I can willingly receive many opportunities and blessings that would come my way.

Heart of Ohio Farmgirls - New Chapter!

Calling all farmgirls at heart in the central Ohio area (or anywhere nearby).......

Do you love the farmgirl way of life, even if you are a city dweller like myself? There is no farm ownership "prerequisite" to be a farmgirl or to be a part of this chapter - as Mary Jane Butters says, being a "farmgirl is a condition of the heart." You may own a farm, a small piece of land or even live in the city and dream of such a space. If you love to cook, do canning, sew/stitch, garden, do herbal based projects, other fun crafts or anything farmgilry, then this group is for you!

I just started a farmgirl chapter here in my area called the "Heart of Ohio Farmgirls". In this chapter, we will be doing just about anything farmgirl and doing many fun activities together, such as a variety of field trips, sew-ins and slumber parties, just to name a few.

A Pinkeep for a Farmgirl, But Who?

Over at the Mary Jane Farmgirl "ranch" we have been working on a mystery swap by creating a pinkeep. Here is mine that I worked on this weekend. I was inspired by project that was included in a new magazine by the publishers of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, called Studios - A Spa for the Creative Soul.

It is made with three large Yo-Yos (the smaller one on top is stuffed to form the cushion), and is topped off with a lovely button.

I am looking forward to surprising one fellow Farmgirl with this pinkeep creation!

I just wanted to show off my new dolly "companions" - Miss Nellie Ann from Kentucky (created by my farmgirl friend Frannie)....I just LOVE her red hair :-)

While at my little farmgirl "Cabin Fever" retreat, Miz Frannie gave us a little dolly makin' class. Being new to this new creative venture I am very happy to present, Theresa B. Beeze (named after my co-worker Theresa Brooke who died last year from prolonged complications from breast cancer (the Beeze part of the name comes from the bumblebee pattern sewn on her pocket).

They both sit watching over all of the happenings in my craft room and esp. look after one white furry cat who roams about.

To go till I get to go down and visit my wonderful Mary Jane farmgirl friends down near Greensburg, Kentucky. I am so looking forward to my visit to Frannie's house at "Freedom Valley Farm" (aka "Cabin Creek"). About 7 girls (4 of us MJ farmgirls) will be gathering to have a grand girls getaway....shopping, sharing stories, eatting wonderful food, partaking in watching a play called "One Man's Lincoln" and more shopping! Dear Frannie will be taking us to all of the fun sights to see.

I will also be picking up my newly adopted 'rag-chile' ( a wonderful little primitive dolly 'soul' created by Miz Frannie)...Betsy Rose.
Hubbie Tim will be heading onward to Nashville, TN (after he drops me off at Frannie's) to visit some friends that he has not seen in a long while. We are both of in need of getting of out of Ohio for an extended weekend for sure and are looking forward to it!

Artful Sisters - Time to Create with Famgirl Style

Farmgirl Pinkeep Mystery Swap

Pinkeeper by Mary Jane Butters

Well, I am finally doing it....I am organizing and hosting my first swap! For this swap on the Farmgirl Connection board will be done as a "mystery"....where no one else in the swap group will know who is swapping with who until the pinkeep is received by the recipient [each person e-mails the host to get their swap person and their address as they are ready to send out their creation).

The really fun part of the mystery is that each participant will be keeping a swap "diary" of sorts on their blog or on the Farmgirl Connection.....so the reveal of who has who will happen once everyone receives their little work of Farmgirl art.....thanks to Stephanie (queenofdreamsz4u) for the wonderful idea!

What are pinkeeps you ask? They are a different version of a pincushion, even tho they perform the same duty, neat huh!?!?! A creative spin on the "ordinary" sewing accessory.

Hubby and I are planning on going to my aunt's house not too far from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. I am from one of those American, small farming towns and I am so blessed and thankful to be from the country tho I now live in the city.

Busy Bee over at the Urban Farmgirl Ranch

I am still here, just a busy little bee.....creating all sorts of nifty stuff for swaps and trying to get a head-start with making things for the holidays...there is never enough time in a day it seems....even with gaining an hour from turning the clocks back on Sunday.

My husband and I are planning on going to Amish Country in Pennsylvania this coming weekend as a mini getaway, and my dad is coming along since we are going to Gettysburg. Good thing is, I will have some time in the car to work on some of the smaller stuff for what I have to do....stitch, talk, look at cows, stitch, talk, look at farming fields, repeat.

I am looking forward to the holidays tho. Yes, there is a lot of work that needs to be done, but it is so well worth it. So, if you don't see any posts from me for awhile I am still here just busy stitching and working on little projects of Farmgirl goodness.

From One Farmgirl to Another

Paying it Forward:

How great is it when we all look out for one another and brighten the day of someone else who we do not know yet?!?!

I came across the other day, a fellow Farmgirl's blog - Karin at "Meandering Travels of Mindless Thoughts" - The post was called "Paying it Forward". I thought, "wow this is really neat and would love to brighten someones day with some artwork or small homemade goodness and then pass the PIF task on to someone else willing to jump in and do the same for 3 others.

It is that simple - 3 people answering the "kindness call" to spread the goodness and then asking 3 more to do likewise onto others.

Farmgirl Tales Begin Here

"A Farmgirl is a condition from the heart"

Well, yesterday, I stumbled upon a site called Mary Jane's Farmgirl Connection. Here in this group of creative, hard-working and inspiring women, they share one common bond -"being a Farmgirl at heart".....no matter where you may be.

What exactly is a Farmgirl? A quote from the website: What is a Farmgirl? To quote the back of our Farmgirl Chapter information cards, “A Farmgirl believes in the strong arms of friendship, community, and the just plain fun of being together. A Farmgirl takes joy in the quiet satisfaction of making things with her own hands. She exudes kindness, grace, humility, gentleness, patience, and generosity, and loves the simple pleasures in life. Farmgirls love to get together to share their ideas.”

After looking at the many colorful and neat looking aprons that many of the ladies create, I am so happy that I was able to find one that my grandmother had...it was her Aunt Ruth's....I just LOVE the colors. I plan to one day make some aprons myself.

In short, being inspired by this Farmgirl sisterhood, I decided to create a new blog to just focus on my Farmgirl encounters and experiences....tales according to a Farmgirl from the country who is living in a central Ohio city.
